Screenwriter, Director and Producer
Alvaro is a visual artist, filmmaker and documentarist. Founder of HDPERU, an independent production company focused in the defense of native peoples’ rights and environmental conservation in the Andes and the Amazon of Peru. Alvaro has been selected to participate in the Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Center Arts & Literary Arts Residency 2018.
Alvaro's debut feature film GREEN RIVER. THE TIME OF THE YAKURUNAS was premiered at the Berlinale Forum 2017 and the MoMA Doc Fortnight 2018.
Alvaro wrote and directed the award winning short fiction KAY PACHA, screened in over 30 festivals, including Clermont-Ferrand official competition.
Alvaro graduated with a BA degree in Film Studies at the Estacio de Sa University in Brazil followed by a Master in Fine Arts in Filmmaking at Ohio University in the USA. His fiction feature script CUSCO ONE PICTURE won the support of the IBERMEDIA Script Development Fund and the Carolina Foundation Residency for screenwriters in Madrid.
Director, Producer and DOP
Diego Sarmiento is a documentary filmmaker who studied Media Production at the Universidad Catolica and a Master in Documentary Filmmaking at EICTV in Cuba. He is a Berlinale Talents alumni.
GREEN RIVER. THE TIME OF THE YAKURUNAS, his feature debut, was premiered at the Berlinale Forum 2017 and the MoMA Doc Fortnight 2018.
Diego directed several short films, two of which premiered at the Berlinale: EARTH'S CHILDREN (Generation K-Plus 2014) and SONIA'S DREAM (Culinary Cinema 2015).
He is currently working in the post-production of a new feature: SEMBRADORAS DE VIDA, a piece that was awarded a Production Grant from the Peruvian Ministry of Culture and selected to participate in the Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Center Arts & Literary Arts Residency 2018.
